Four Pillars · BaZi · 子平

Your birth date is a map. Almost nobody learns to read it.

Four Pillars is a two-thousand-year-old Chinese system for reading the pattern of a birth moment. We translate it into plain English — and into five things you can do this week.

No account needed. Three pillars are enough to start.

What this actually is

Not a horoscope. Not a personality quiz. A symbolic system with rules, and a calendar attached.

01

Eight characters

BaZi means "eight characters". A birth moment becomes four pairs — year, month, day, hour. Each pair is one Heavenly Stem over one Earthly Branch.

02

Five elements, one proportion

Every character carries an element: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. Your chart is the specific ratio you were handed. Most of the reading is about the ratio, not the symbols.

03

The Day Master

The stem in your day pillar. It is the closest thing this system has to "you" — the position you meet the world from when nobody is watching.

Position

No belief is required to use this. It is a very old model of personality and timing with its own internal logic — closer to a structured lens than a prophecy. You bring a birth date. The system returns a structure. What you do with the structure is the interesting part.

Three steps, two minutes

STEP 1

Enter your birth moment

Date, time, and place. The time gives you the fourth pillar. Without it, we read three and tell you so.

STEP 2

See the structure

Four pillars, your Day Master, your element balance, and whether the chart reads strong or weak. Free, immediately.

STEP 3

Decide if you want the rest

The full reading covers work, relationships, the friction built into your chart, and the five actions. One payment, no subscription.

Two systems, one entrance

Four Pillars and Purple Star are separate Chinese traditions. They answer different questions, and they are not two views of the same thing.

Four Pillars · 八字

  • Works from the solar terms — eight characters, five elements
  • Reads temperament as a proportion of elements
  • Answers: what am I made of, and what am I short of
  • Needs only a birth date

Purple Star · 紫微斗数

  • Works from the lunar month — twelve palaces, fourteen stars
  • Reads temperament as a palace and a star
  • Answers: which department of my life is this star sitting in
  • Needs a birth date, a birth time, and your gender

Most readings stop at description

Every chart reading will tell you what you are. Almost none will tell you what to do on Tuesday.

What you usually get

  • "You are a creative spirit who values freedom."
  • Your element described in adjectives
  • A forecast with no handle on it
  • A subscription to keep reading the same thing
  • Encouragement

What this reading gives

  • Your Day Master as a position, with its specific failure mode
  • The element you are short of, and what that shortage costs you in practice
  • Five concrete actions tied to that element — this week, not this lifetime
  • One payment. You keep the report.
  • A description you can argue with

The five actions are the part people come back for. They are specific enough to disagree with, which is the only test of a useful reading.

Questions

Is this Western astrology?

No. It is a separate Chinese system built on a different calendar and a different logic — stems and branches rather than planets and houses. The two do not translate into each other, and we do not try.

Do I need an exact birth time?

It helps. The hour produces your fourth pillar, which sharpens the reading. If you do not know it, we compute three pillars and label the fourth as not provided — the Day Master and element balance still hold.

Is this a religion or a belief system?

No. It is a traditional interpretive framework. You do not need to believe anything to use it, the same way you do not need to believe in ink to read a map.

How accurate is it?

It is a framework, not a forecast. It describes tendencies and proportions, and it is most useful as a way to notice patterns you already live inside. We do not claim outcomes, and any reading that does should make you suspicious.

What happens to my birth data?

It is used to generate your chart and your report, and nothing else. We do not sell it. You can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to the address in the footer.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within seven days, if the report was not delivered or is materially defective. Full terms are on the refund page. Because reports are delivered instantly, the statutory right of withdrawal does not apply once delivery has completed.

Is any of this medical or financial advice?

No. Nothing here is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice, and nothing here should replace a qualified professional. The food and routine notes are cultural tradition, not clinical guidance.
